Serpentine, o com somriure resolent un petit problema

La formiga estalviadora de clics es posa en marxa i detecta una nova aplicació: Serpentine. Molt interessant, molt neta, molt petita. Però, té sentit fer un programa per crear CDs de música? No és una eina morta? La resposta és aquí:
As much as I enjoy working on Serpentine sometimes I look at it with some grief. Audio-CD’s are a dying format. CD Players are bulky big and no one is buying them. Portable usb-storage players are way better, they fit in your pocket, you can shake them and they will not stop playing and you can even install Linux on them!
However these things take time, I mostly use it to create Audio-CDs to my girlfriend, so that she can hear them in her car
I have never used Serpentine for myself, there I said it! However if she, or some of my friends, need it it’s a must-have application on my desktop, I won’t install K3B (and kdelibs) just for that.

With Serpentine’s latest release I see it this way: the features are mostly there, the GUI is mostly there, which leads me to a new stage: I’ve started maintaining Serpentine. In the end it just feels good.
Ell és feliç, la seva parella també i jo també! Què més volem? La utilitat no es troba només en allò material o monetari. Aquesta és la característica que fa tan bo el programari lliure. Aquest permet guanyar pasta, és clar, però també permet ser feliç i fer feliç. El programari lliure viu de la curiositat, dels petits detalls que ens fan somnriure, que ens mouen a intentar resoldre un petit problema i, al mateix temps, aprendre coses noves. En definitiva, el programari lliure és humà, molt humà.
