Reddit isn’t using tags!

I also would like to have a Reddit on politics. But to tag articles is not the solution, I think it would be better to create a new and parallel site, with its own community interested on politics. This new and different community would be very depend on the first users, so it would not be strange to see two new Reedit like sites on politics, one liberal, the other republican.
Some days after I wrote this paragraph, reddit introduced comments. I must confess that I feared reddit creators would introduce a bunch of unnecessary web 2.0 features. Fortunately comments are working quite well and, what is more important, they are almost invisible for the person that doesn’t want to use them. In fact, from my point of view, what makes reddit better than digg, apart from the voting system, is simplicity and unobtrusiveness. Reddit is so simple and efficient that allows us to feel well when procrastinating. But, if my fears have been fading slowly during the last four weeks, they disappeared completely when the “not safe for work” reddit was created. This is, in fact, a parallel site devoted to another subject, adult content in this case. Instead of introducing tags, that in this case would harm the necessary homogeneity of the community, reddit is creating new subject-oriented sites, which is what I asked for in my previous post about reddit. I would like to thank the reddit team for having taken this appropriate decisions instead of introducing all those features expected by the web 2.0 “experts”.
