The iPhone is not a friend of multilingualism

2008.01.23 escrit per Pere Quintana Seguí

They say that it is possible to write very fast with the iPhone, when doing it in one of the few suported languages. After this first test, it became obvious to me that my new and shiny iPhone could be much more useful to me if it was able to understand my languages (yes with an “s”). If I had to write this post in Catalan I would never finish. So the main question is how could this iPhone learn the languages I use. Will the guys at Apple ever understand that there are tones of multilingual people out there? Or, at least, will they allow us to develop the necessary tools to use our multiple languages on this device?

Now, the iPhone is only for monolinguals people that speak English, French, German and/or Italian.
